Instruction

I work with riders of all levels to help develop a balanced seat and strong communication with the horse.  I do not specialize in discipline specific instruction.  Lessons are available on your horse at your farm only.

Horses learn to compensate for rider imbalances and biomechanical issues.  Those compensations may affect the horse's way of going, performance, and attitude.  For example, if the rider is locked in her right hip it is likely that the horse will also have issues on the right side.  This will eventually lead to uneven muscle development and may be the cause of training issues such as difficulty bending in one direction or difficulty picking up a lead.

I added riding instruction and rider evaluations to my business as it became apparent to me that I could not "fix" a horse with soft tissue work and saddle fit alone.  I was missing the important rider component.  It also became apparent with saddle fitting that it was equally important to have the saddle fit the rider as it was the horse.  If the saddle is forcing the rider out of balance it can have as much of an impact on the horse as a saddle that does not fit the horse.

My goal is to help beginner riders start with good habits and balance.  For the more experienced rider I work as part of the team, often in conjunction with your trainer, to reeducate your body and help you ride more efficiently.
